+1 for gloss black. I think matte black makes it look like it needs a good clean. Use Gtechniq C5 wheel armour, lasts for ages & repels brake dust (sort of ) actually it does lessen it. Though reading some of your previous posts, I think your car is like mine, it dosn't get a chance to get dirty |

I put c5 on the gloss black I have on now but it’s starting to break down as it’s been on 2 years now,I’m set on matte black now & im going to use this coating as it gets better reviews than C5.

Paint over powder coat for sure. Powder coat doesn't adhere to the wheel surface like paint does. Once they are nicked or scratched, water will get behind and the powder coat will start to blow up and peel off.

Had my wheels fully refurbed and powder coated gloss black last year. They look fantastic and are fully protected with the addition of black alloy gators. I was really pleased with the finish.

Timing is everything as I’m considering a full refurbishment and changing the colour to black. It’s a great debate and for some reason have also thought powder coating was the best option but it’s down to personal choice. I’m sure it’s covered elsewhere, but please continue the pros and cons as it’s making me better informed before proceeding. Power of the forum😎 please continue thank you |

I’ve decided to go with painting as you do get a better finish & it’s the same price. Andy.

They cause one hell of a mess to the car if they come loose, though! See bottom of here: https://teslaownersgroup.co.uk/kb/protecti...eel-damage or https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic....;t=1648658 The Tesla link also suggests they wear the paint away underneath where they are fitted. No personal experience, but saw enough horror pictures that I decided to just try and avoid kerbing my wheels (which I'm usually pretty good at right up until the point I fit a new set of wheels or buy a new car... ) 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S |

Going in to the paint shop next week as the lad who does my paint jobs is really busy but he’s said he will stay over one night to do them.He painted some for me last year in gloss black, this is one of them,I gave them 3 coats of poorboys wheel sealant last year & they are still holding up well.

It's like my car heard you - went out this morning and noticed a chip out of the paint on the front nearside wheel.. rather obvious when the wheel is gloss black and the undercoat (or filler, I don't want to check ) is white!
