Well my battery died. IID required for change?

I’ve had the car coming up to 3 years and pre COVID it’s in use 6 days a week doing decent runs. Alas at the last service some 8 weeks ago it was advised that it was getting tired (Bosch S4 013 800A 56Ah) and a change would be on the horizon. It’s been in use during the lock down but only for shopping trips. We’ve been recalled back to work and went to start the car yesterday and the lights all appeared normal on the dash pre-start but there wasn’t enough electric to even turn it over. It had been sat for a week whilst I’ve been juggling the fleet spreading the usage. I’ve put my charger on it but it’s only showing 1 bar out of 5 as an indication of charge and the volts reading is 10.something volts. I have therefore just purchased an Exide EA1000 as recommended by TS Norman from Tanya.co.uk and very reasonable price to.

Eventually my question. Is it just a change in the usual manner or does it need IID tool intervention? 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I think IID is only needed for later motors with the BMS. Lots of folks have changed batteries on later ones and not done BMS reset and been fine.
I'd just go for it! Perhaps charge it up before fitting so it's 100% before fitting... Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I reset the BMS when I installed my new one, but as Rob says, plenty of people do not without any adverse effects. Kev

Just change it. That's all I did with my 08MY TDV8 and it was all fine. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

As said just change it, the pre-facelift Sport 05-09 does not have the BMS system fitted.

Cheers
