Hi All.

I have just bought myself a 2007 RRS TDV8. Got it home and all seemed great. However, I have now found that when i drive it hard, when it gets through the turbo range it like drops off slightly then doesnt want to shift gears, if i back off the pedal slightly then it will shift gear and go onto the next, if i keep the pedal down then it throws a few fault codes. I.E transmission fault, park brake fault, engine fault. If i pullover and restart then all clears down and fine to drive again. When driving it normally it has no faults and seems great.

Just wondering if this is a common fault and whether anyone can guide me in a direction?

Sadly, you're going to need to get the error codes read. Otherwise you're just going to play "pin the tail on the donkey" with this. There could be a number of factors causing the problem and you don't want to be changing stuff for the sake of it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Ive read codes and getting a P2290 fault. Which is related to fuel supply. Have ordered a better diag system to further diagnose/ confirm fault.

Wondering if its the fuel filter or pickup pump?

Had a quick look and it throws up this:

As a starter, I'd guess a new fuel filter is required. Buy a real one, not a cheap aftermarket part as these have been known to be an issue. Hopefully, that'll sort it.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Thanks for looking this up buddy. Have got myself a new decent fuel filter to fit. Now just got to fit it. lol. Hoping to get access using suspension rather than putting it on the ramp.

UPDATE!

Fitted filter tonight, boxed car back up and took for a test run with about 1/4 tank in the car. At first I couldn’t get it to fault for quite a while. So was pretty happy however. Pulled up for a minute and went to try it again. First full throttle and it opened up nicely to 70/75mph. However then it faulted again the same as before. The only thing I can correspond to this is that the fuel was pretty low now and probably close to going on reserve. Could this be affecting the fault again now if the in tank pump is weak as I originally thought? I do have a pump on order. Just waiting for it to come. Had all my hopes up for a while.
