DAB reception, any known issues?

I’ve noticed the DAB reception in my 2015 autobiography with meridian system isn’t quite as good as my D4 was. I’m losing signal where before it was fine. Both cars have the same user interface so must be pretty much the same I would have thought, any suggestions or known problems? Joined the X5 45e club

Agreed - my MY16 reception is terrible compared to other cars I have. Quality is great with stations such as Jazz FM national. MY16, 3.0D HSE Dynamic, Barola Black, TV, Rear Entertainment, Opening Pan Roof, Meridian

IMHO DAB is s**t and only useful in static instances like a home radio. Putting it in a moving receiver like a vehicle is just dumb as the protocol isn’t designed for that.

Satellite would be better as in the US, but it’s cheaper to use broadcast services here so we’re lumbered with DAB and FM. MY15.5 HSE

In my D4 I was always impressed with reception, normally better than FM. Joined the X5 45e club

No issues with DAB on the move, either in my RRS, my newly converted to DAB Disco 4 Commercial, or my other halfs Audi.

Yes it drops out in certain areas, usually next to a high building but for only a coupe of seconds.

My TV at home has more problems! 2010 3.6 TDV8 HSE (Gone)

The DAB question is generally location first then other potential issues,

In the SE its generally terrible as is TV reception, unless you park on high
hills to watch things..the further north you go the better the reception in
general..

as said it will always drop out on the move until they actually put the infrastructure
in place nationwide to make it what it was meant to become..lets hope they dont
turn off FM before DAB gets much much better.. ===========================================

Hi Dave-t
Did you ever get to the bottom of the DAB reception issue. My 2014 has always been terrible. I noticed that if I auto-tune with just the ignition on its fine, but with the engine running, it goes straight to 99% the complete in 2 seconds. The reception on my Evoque is pretty good, but the sport is useless.
Thanks Neale RRS Supercharged. 2005 (05)

I have never had a vehicle with a DAB radio that was as good as FM in the UK.

Can anybody explain in simple terms exactly what the benefits of DAB in your car are? RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014

No use what so ever, better sound quality they say, not bloody better when the signal cuts out though is it, which it does all the time in built up area's.

Dont understand this, my previous car (2014 Audi S3) and my other halfs Q3 have excellent DAB all the time, but this RRS is as if its faulty, even FM is poo
