Park Assist Question

Hello all

I have a 2016 RRS AB with 360 cameras and park assist which seems to only have parallel parking and not other options

is this correct or should the car have the full park assist

If I recall correctly, when I bought my model year 2015, the park assist option was sold in two forms with parallel parking only as the base version. The all bells and whistles park option also came with 360 degree park distance detection. I have the full park version and I see a display showing proximity of obstacles all around the vehicle. The 360 degree surround camera was a separate option. Link to 2015 brochure is below. Could be the same for 2016.

From the brochure back then:

Quote:
PARK ASSIST FEATURES
Parking is made simpler with the aid
of Parallel Parking, an optional feature which can be further enhanced with the addition of Parking Exit, Perpendicular Parking and 360° Park Distance Control. Whether you are manoeuvring around tight corners or negotiating traffic,
the vehicle is agile.

£450 to add Park Assist featuring Parallel Park and Parking Exit

A further £450 on top to add: Perpendicular Parking and 360° Park Distance Control

Which rather suggests you do in fact have perpendicular parking assist as you have 360. Rolling Eyes Assuming you have the real 360 and not just front & rear sensors, which I suppose for some owners may feel the same until they try real 360 sensors. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... You reckon this is possible on a 2014? it has the 360 surround cams and park assist with rear traffic detection? If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

Will it be easier to to check you have cameras in the door mirrors.? Our evoque has them & it has 360 view or whatever they call it,to be honest we’ve never used them. Andy.

Yep its got cams in the mirrors 2 on the front lower bumper and one at the rear and what looks like one facing our the front under the rear view mirror, just wondered if fitting one of these would be needed to enable TSR and lane warning

But not sure what the LESS part means does it mean this does not have the capability or is just not enabled? If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

You may find the cam under the rear view mirror is for the lane keeping assist and road sign recognition systems not for the parking. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

If I'm honest they were the 2 things I was most interested in! I live in the centre of town and have a garage for 2 cars Im well versed with parallel parking and reversing into a space is not that hard either but might be handy if you had a stiff next I guess!

You reckon that that camera might be for Traffic sign and lane keep? (Im trying to find that out) be handy if anyone has a 2014 with Traffic sign recog coul have a look and see if there are any other cameras in the windscreen If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!

The parking is crap anyway. It's slow and it parks between the cars either side - not between the lines on the floor. If they are badly parked, you will be too.

Similarly if it does a parallel park between two cars and they are fairly narrow but parked closely to the kerb, you might get your wheels dinged. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

Yeah I thought that too, I can park on the street in a pretty tight gap as long as using the rear view mirror (I normally practice by putting a cone in the garage so I can gauge the distance in the camera so i know when im like 4 inches away!

The 360 cams on the front will be handy for tight parking and maybe help save the alloys, been caught out before by uneven curbs that have been damaged!

Would really love to know what the camera under the mirror does though I suspect it just for the highbeam assist and is not much more that a light sensor.

I used park assist on an AB L405 in Las Vegas a few years back whilst waiting for her indoors in a shop and it did work quite well but I cant help but think it would be better if the user didnt have to break and do the gears seeing as there was auto breaking and the box is auto!

I guess Perpendicular park requires something more but if you have the blind spot and rear traffic set up then you would think it could be enabled with a GAP If a jobs worth doing, get a someone who knows what they are doing to do it!
