Replacement battery for 2012 L320 SC

Hi guys,

Sorry i'm being lazy not searching through my manual or searching online. But i just wanted to try herr first. My l320 battery died today. Had the car since August 2019, and about 3 months ago it died after me cleaning the car for hours with interior lights on and radio playing off and on. LR came out as i was under extended warranty then. And the technician said the battery isn't charging quite as well as it should so you should replace battery in near future. But its been fine since as i never now play the radio or anything when the engine isn't running. But was doing some jobs are the car yesterday cleaning etc so had the doors open on and off so interior lights on and i've hardly been drying it and driving only a couple of miles for last few weeks due to the lock down. So now its now died in my building car park. Does any one know the name of the battery / serial i need to order & more importantly where i can get a really good deal from online that will delivery during the virus times?

Also can any one tell me a tool i can buy so i can check the battery status in the future so this never happens to me again.

Thanks so much for any help. Hope you're all safe and well. 2012 RRS HSE 5.0 SUPERCHARGED Santorini Black

Personal choice but from previous experience wouldn't fit a Yuasa if they paid me, unless they have improved in reliability drastically. Fitted a Varta G14 (019) AGM nearly 4 years ago and has been faultless, but as I say personal choice.

Cheers

Thanks once again for all your guys help. Ahhh dam Col I ordered a yuasa yesterday before I read your post.
How is the yuasa Going for anyone who’s fit we’d them?
Col how come you went for a battery with stop start technology? I looked at this battery closely but it was over double the price of the yuasa!
Also do any of u guys know how to reset the one touch windows off the top of your head?
Thanks so much for help with this u all saved me hours of web research 🙌🏼 2012 RRS HSE 5.0 SUPERCHARGED Santorini Black

Absolutely no need to fit a stop/start agm battery, it was just purely a personal choice which I thought I would try, didn't really consider the price.

With the windows just fully operate the window and when fully raised just release and operate the switch again and hold for a extra couple of seconds or so, if you listen carefully you will also hear a small click noise. Will also need to reset the date on dash as will revert to 2009 if I remember correctly, sunroof also needs to reset If you have one. L/R do also say to reset BMS system as well, simple enough if you have a IID tool, but they do actualy self calibrate periodically over time, I didn't bother initially just made sure the battery was full charged before fitting it.

Cheers

As Col said, YUASA can be a bit hit or miss. My first YUASA (I went for a 020 for a little extra power) internally blew a cell in the first months and blew my camera module in doing so. The battery was replaced under guarantee and I’ve since heard of at least another 3 RRS owners having very similar issues with the 019 and 020 batts. So if you have further elec problems, I’d re-look at the battery to be sure. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Thanks for info Col & Brit Plumber ahhh dam. I'm wondering if i still have time to cancel it. Because i desperately don't it break anything electrical.

Did it cost much to fix the camera module Brit Plumber?

Would you guys stick to the more well known brands like Bosch & Varta? also would you still go for 020 so you get extra power considering how battery hungry the RRS seems to be?

If anyone has any other suggestions of a better more reliable battery i might try and cancel my yuasa order now and pay extra to get another brand, as the battery is one of the most important things i think i can invest in, as i never want to be left stranded anywhere.

Thanks again for the help. 2012 RRS HSE 5.0 SUPERCHARGED Santorini Black

I don't think for one minute every Yuasa battery is going to fail I'm only speaking from my experience with them. I fitted the 019 because it is a straight swap and don't have to squeeze it in, it is a larger capacity than the original factory fit battery for the petrol variant anyway and as said have never had a flat battery or starting issue. Again personally I would only fit Varta as have never had a issue with them although not the cheapest battery, also although L/R branded they were also the o.e. battery on the s/c.

Cheers

Thanks Col,

Managed to switch more order from tanya from a Yuasa to a Varta also went for a 019 after googling people that had fitted an 020 on a petrol car had electrical issues, but there was also a lot of people who hadn't had an issue with them either. But seeing i seem to be the unluckiest man alive i thought i would get a battery as close to the OEM as poss.

Thanks for all the help guys. 2012 RRS HSE 5.0 SUPERCHARGED Santorini Black
