Makes sense, to be honest. The D350 sounds like a reasonable replacement. It'll only be missing the noise. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I hope the 3.0 tDV6 is going to be the basic engine that is to be built in the US with the better crankshaft for the F150 and not the crappy engine built in the UK. 07MY RRS TDV6

Are they V6 units or inline like the petrol? It would make sense to make an inline 6, wouldn't it, if the engine bay can it.

I thought they were planning on using their own engines using the Igenium brand/series. Or is there a move to go back to using bought in units from elsewhere? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I am happy to have the V8 and won't be after the new unit which would be useless as a tow vehicle or in the bush. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

Why will the 3.0 be useless for towing or in the bush? The D350 is supposed to be 350bhp and over 500lbft. It's more power and slightly less torque than the V8 diesel, although the question of what the rpm the peak torque arrives is yet to be answered.

My old TDV8 only had 270bhp and 472lbft and it towed very well indeed, easily pulling our two-horse box at 2.5 tonnes as if it wasn't there.

Heck, my current SDV6 is around 100bhp and about 70lbft less than the D350 and it tows the same trailer very well, if not quite so effortlessly as the TDV8 did (being about 20bhp and 30lbft down on that). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As far as I know the 6 cylinder Ingenium engines are all straight sixes, no more V engines in the Ingenium range as they are all basically the same just they gave extra cylinders bolted on the end - it is rumoured that the new DiscoSport and Evoque PHEV’s will have a 3 cylinder motor of 1.5litr - anyone for a straight 12? My last ship had a straight 14 triple turbo that could run with various cylinders shut off and turbos isolated for low speed continuous running. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Fuel consumption is the reason. Whilst battery assist helps with fuel around town it does n;t when you are towing or crawling around the bush. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
