L494 Air Filters

Has anyone replaced the standard air filters with K&N's and do you think it was worth it ?

TIA.

I’m sure someone posted before about K&N filters are no good as they have a trace of oil in them & it interferes with the maf sensors,I could be wrong but I’m sure I read it on here. Andy.

I replaced them but unfortunately I did it within a day of taking delivery so I have nothing to compare against. I always put k&n filters in all of my vehicles, a throwback to my youth I guess where Webber Twin Carburettor and k&n filters were the essential mod to eek a little more power.

I do think they improve the sound a little, there is a noticeable change in the engine pitch when you rev it. MY19 RRS Autobiography Dynamic 3.0 sdv6, Carpathian Grey, black pan roof, black pack, black 22’s, black side steps, ebony/ebony interior

Disco_Mikey has said in the past that they're pointless and that the standard one is as good as you're going to get for these vehicles.

I have seen videos of comparisons that also show that K&N etc are basically pointless "upgrades" unless you also map the engine accordingly.

To be honest, with the cost of the engines in these things, I'd want as good a filter as I could get rather than one that sounds good or gives 1 or 2 bhp more (and that's probably not happening anyway). 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

K & N don't filter as well as the OME units. They do flow more air and more grit though if this is what you require. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
