I’ve done a lot of research but nobody has exactly the same issue. Only had my RRS 4 months and gearbox has been smooth as silk but occasionally she holds 1st and won’t change up unless I ease off the throttle then gently back on she changes up with no major clunk or noise, then all’s good again.

Doesn’t seem to be temperature related it’s done hot or cold, no recorded codes, no error messages. Supplying dealer had the fluid done by a LR specialist who I contacted and they done a flush and fluid change but didn’t change the filter.

Any thoughts?

Have you checked your tyre pressures are correct. If one is low this can cause all sorts of problems in shifting. Kevin

Thanks for the reply, yes I have their all correct and front tyres are new and correct size rears are matching pair good tread. Steering angle sensor not showing an error on my Icarsoft code reader.

make sure the brake pedal switch isn't sticky

Mine does the exact same,,, I thought maybe it was just the way I was driving at the time. Sometimes I drive with very little variation on the throttle, especially at roundabouts or junctions,,, which is where I see this most. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I take it brake lights working correctly doesn’t necessarily mean the switch is working correctly?

How does the brake switch effect the gearbox? Could explain why it does it sometimes after I’ve held her on the foot brake for a while like at traffic lights?

If it thinks your braking, it thinks you are going down hill and would benefit from engine braking ie a low gear

Ahh, she does tend to drop into 1st when slowing and cornering when I would normally expect to stay in 2nd or 3rd.

Is it actually in 1st or is in 2nd? It could be different for other models but my car starts in 2nd unless I select first manually. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
