USB Slot

So, just found my SIM card slot tonight having read another thread but what is the USB slot for? It has a spanner next to it so thinking its to do with maintenance but it also has an OBD connector.

Is it not just a dedicated port to upload/download Incontrol/Nav. data etc, via a usb cable as opposed to using a wifi connection. Only a suggestion as wouldn't really know, but sure someone will know the exact purpose for it.
