Can the p400e be driven in EV only mode With a fully charged battery without first waiting for the petrol engine to get up to operating temperature ?

Yes - It will generally (9/10) start this way on battery only. Engine does not start when you turn on.
There is also an EV button which forces it into EV only mode until a) battery runs out or b) you put your foot down for more power than the electric motor can give on its own and it start the engine. On the Hybrid power gauge dial in EV button pressed mode (alternate to the rev counter) a little marker comes up showing the maximum power before the engine kicks in so you can see when you are approaching this level.
For local journeys the petrol engine often does not start at all even in non EV button mode.

Thank you for that and that is exactly what I hoped it would do but my car when I start it in the morning starts the petrol engine as soon as I switch it on.
Unfortunately my car has been with the dealer for a charging fault for 2 weeks so I can’t experiment with it at the moment but I will ask them to check it tomorrow.
