Warranty Direct Options

My warranty runs out in May on my 2015 3.0SD 38k miles and I am looking at Warranty Direct Options. Apart from the Core Cover, what do people recommend including please - options are Core Plus, Safety System Protection, Emission System Protection and Multi-media system protection?

I think the minimum cover should protect the big ticket items, the things that can - hopefully unlikely - be a catastrophic cost. So that means Core, for sure, and potentially emissions if you are concerned about DPF (this is not likely to be a huge additional cost on the policy), followed by Safety which covers the typical failures in suspension, steering pump and such.

Next is Core Plus which, with its coverage of electrics, protects against painful electrical gremlins.

You have a 5 year old low mileage diesel in London? Ah heck, just buy the full monty! Maybe. In any case I would expect to pay at least £800 for a warranty, potentially £1000. And with WD they DO pay out, so it is genuine peace of mind. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

I've gone for core (engine/transmission/turbos etc) plus safety systems, which is suspension etc. Was £2K for three years, you should be less as the bands go up every 10k miles (I'm on 42k) Joined the X5 45e club

Hi Prashan... I hope you are enjoying the RRS.. I remember you bought yours a week or so before me.

If you sign up to Quidco you will get £51 cashback - if you use my code https://www.quidco.com/raf/217525/ - you will get an additional £10 back and I will the same. In addition I am starting my policy from today and have got authorisation of a dealer wrap for this policy. This means if I claim on the policy between now and May then policy will start from the 1st claim. If I dont claim then it will start from when the JLR waranty expires. This gives me an insurance policy, in case the JLR policy doesnt cover any issue. My policy with everything on, uncapped labour and £100 excess is £801.

Cheers B

That's a great deal. Does that include Wear & Tear?

They say it’s as per manufacturers warranty and what not, but have AA as the roadside recovery rather than Land Rover assist. Having had the restricted performance come up twice this week and next week being the last week of the new car warranty it has made my mind up that an extended warranty is a must.

Doesn’t quite cover all wear and tear:

I was put off warranty direct about a year ago where there was a very long thread (since pulled) on PistonHeads.

The gist of it is here:

My warranty also expires in May 2020. I was going to take the LR one out. Any reason other ppl aren't using LR own warranty?
