Extend LR warranty or go 3rd party

My (very low mileage) SVR will be 3 years old soon and LR have offered me an extended warranty package for 1,2 or 3 years. I’ve not had a chance to look into the nuts and bolts of it, and apologies if this has been asked to death, but any advice on which I’d be better opting for if I wanted to extend?

Many thanks

I have just gone with warranty direct for three years, you can take one, two or three, you can get a quote up to a year before and select your start date. Their price bands go by brackets of 10k miles, and it makes quite a difference, and it’s based on your mileage today, not the projected at start date, you just pay £25 to hold your price if a long time before the start date. You can also take just the bits you want rather than everything

I also tried motoreasy, their quote was over £700 more for 5he three years Joined the X5 45e club

Hi,
we went the WD route
have you got another vehicle recovery option? we had with a bank account so no benefit from the L/R included
also agree with DaveT the WD policy looked better to me
paid for 3 years up front and cancelled it after about 100 days when car sold and full refund of unexpired time

Dont forget the Refer a friend scheme Thumbs Up it works well and you both get a bit of £££ back
(not me, but many on here have a policy)

The WD policy has No delay kicking in if you follow the Manufacturers policy (approved warranty does not count)

Thumbs Up Porsche Cayenne 2022
gone Porsche Cayenne 2020
gone Corris Grey HSE Dynamic 2016
gone Ipanema HSE lux 2010
gone Rimini HSE 2005

Does WD give you a courtesy/hire car if you car is completely screwed over and needs recovering to the dealer, whilst you’re waiting to get it fixed? That’s one of the big benefits of the LR warranty for me. RRS MY17 SDV6 AB

No courtesy car with WD, but there is a car hire claim option that kicks in after 24 hours and is only for up to 7days, which I never used personally when I had a WD policy. The fact WD pays for wear & tear, which is the major cause of claims rejection with the LR warranty, I expect you're no worse off, and you would have to buy breakdown cover and you might be able to add that feature?

"Car Hire
For valid claims, the cost of hiring a replacement car will be covered, up to the daily limit in your policy schedule (including VAT) for up to seven days. This is only if your vehicle is being repaired under the terms of this insurance and the repair will take over eight hours of workshop time to complete. We will not pay for a hire car for the first 24 hours that your vehicle is out of action."
