Very detailed piece on the new system. It all sounds familiar though as the launch of the latest ICTP system had all that hardware blurb as though it was going to be world beating - which we know isn’t!

Tech advancement like being about to access your Spotify app without having the phone in the car seems like a bit of over engineering to me. I’m given to understand that if using the new feature of a wireless charging bay to connect your smartphone, you can’t use CarPlay which still relies on a wired connection. Not sure if this is overcome with Pivi Pro.

All I’d say at this point is I wouldn’t like to take ownership of a RR with the first gen version of this new hardware, not after hearing so much pain owners went through with early versions of ICTP... perhaps evident in the fact that we are now using version 19c which my digital marketing director wife responded by saying, “What the Censored happened when they lunch the previous 18 versions???” MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...

I just had 19c delivered SOTA to mine but the Telematics part is still not working properly - Remote app works sometimes and doesn't others.

If you take my sim card out it stops working entirely which it shouldn't as that should work on a built in SIM apparently.

Lets hope they get it right with PIVI Pro ! Non JLR Vehicle

That’s a shame. So many users on the Velar forum seemingly have problems. I think it really is luck of the draw whether you get a stable system or not.

For me, I took ownership at 18c which I think was a defining point of stabilisation. Maybe!

The only issues I get are if you don’t follow the process slowly to allow the car to start up how it wants to. For example, if you nip to the shops and stop/start a few times it can get confused between loading over and over again. Like a computer needing to reboot.

With 19c it’s a whole lot better and start up quicker. CarPlay kicks in each time I unplug and reconnect with only the occasional refusal. MY19 5.0SC Dynamic AB - Boss Grey, Black Pano Roof, 22” Gloss Black Alloys, Ebony/Ivory Massage Seats, Carbon Fibre Finishers, HUD, DTV and the all important Cabin Ionisation...

If one wants a reasonably reliable LR, one buys the last of the previous version. Buying anything LR when it is released is to put yourself forward as a product tester rather than a customer. Rolling Eyes 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Someone in the major "Know" at my dealership told me today that a big LCI facelift is due later this year. Exact details not known but it will be enough to carry the RRS in to 2022 when the new model should arrive.

It just seems strange they're going to do an MY21 facelift and then bring out an all new model in MY22. Unless they're going to push the new model back to MY23.

Why facelift a car for one year doesn't make any sense?

Time will tell I guess!! Non JLR Vehicle

The 2020 model updates were released in April 2019 so if they follow the same schedule we’re only 2 months out.

My guess for RRS:
2021: Refresh
2022
2023: New model

FFRR:
2021
2022: New model 2020 SVR / R.I.P. 2019 SVR / 2016 D4 Landmark / 2005 D3 HSE

I can't remember them having done a facelift with a 2yr gap though.

Like who would buy that facelift knowing that a whole new model was coming in a much shorter cycle than normal?

Maybe I'm wrong though!! Non JLR Vehicle

People who are in the PCP cycle will buy when their current car is due to end, that's who. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

They did it on the previous gen car - the bumpers etc were all updated around 18 months before the new L494 was introduced.
