My old 14 plate is up for sale at a indie in Cheshire & he has had it up for sale since March last year when he bought it from guy salmon in Sheffield,it has fmdsh nice condition with 38000 miles,it’s up for 37k,I don’t know what he gave dealer for it as they gave me 42k for it against the one I know have.Heres a link to it you might get it a lot cheaper seeing as they have had it since March last year, they haven’t even mot’d it yet & it ran out September last year unless they are waiting till they get a buyer. To be honest I wish I had kept it as it was a nice motor it was just with it being black that’s why I got rid,if I could go back 12 month I should have just had it wrapped.

The approved warranty now is only for 12 month so probably better buying from a indie & saving 3-5k & purchasing a warranty from a third party which will probably cover more than the approved warranty which is also a third party & not a LR warranty unless the car is less than 3 years old.

The 5.0sc is pretty much Bullitt proof if serviced properly, like any engine if serviced regularly they should last years. Andy.

I bought a L494 5.0 SC Autobiography with 54k miles on it from Aspire Cars in Hyde 10 months ago and (touch wood) it's been faultless so far. At June 2013 it's one of the very early ones and pre-dates the electronic service book, which allowed me to peruse a very comprehensive paper history with details of every service and warranty repair before I bought it. The LR 'Approved' warranty is nothing special and as far as I can tell inferior in many ways to the Warranty Direct one which covers wear & tear- also means you can have it serviced by an independent specialist rather than a main dealer, which should halve the cost of servicing. 2013 L494 5.0 SC in Chile Red |

In fairness to the Approved Warranty, you can still have it serviced at an indy - there is no requirement to have a main dealer service it. The Approved Warranty will pay an indy for warranty work too because the Approved Warranty is actually just a third party policy with a Land Rover front cover.

Thanks for your help guys, I will look into aftermarket warranties. I have a specialist 2 mins from my house called Reid speed so I may pop in there and ask a few questions about the RRS.
