Hi, I have had a leak from both front and back hydraulic roll bars for some time, my Indy technician has advised trying a power steering stop leak additive to the reservoir as he has had good results in the past at this problem. My question is this , would you chaps agree by trying this and the other question is which one should I try if you think it’s worth a try? Lucas do one but is not suitable for electric motor power steering? There are several brands out there but I’m confused as to what I should go for ? All help is very grateful, thanks

Have used Forte power steering treatment with good results in the actual steering systems in Defender/Disco 2 etc

Can't say I've ever tried it in the ARC system though...

Failing the additive working, I paid £1100.00 and removed the whole ACE system and reverted to new standard anti roll bars!

Easy on the V6, not so straight forward on the V8...

The V6 started out without Dynamic Response didn't it? The V8s (petrol and diesel) were always dynamic response equipped.

Not sure why one would want to remove dynamic response when it makes such a difference to the handling/feel of the vehicle. Without it, the RRS is just a Disco 3 without the benefit of the big boot. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As the cars get older, big repair bills will eventually kill them off

By offering a permanent, (usually) lower cost solution, we'll keep more of them on the road

But only by making them worse.

If I was buying a TDV8 and was told that the bars had been replaced with traditional bars "to save money", I'd be out of the door so quickly their head would spin!  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I had the rear one replaced on my TDV8. My SDV6 is about to hit 100k miles and still on its original active bars (so far as I know).

If a bar needs to be replaced, it'll be replaced with an active one as that's what the vehicle has and is designed to have. Taking the dynamic bars off an RRS which has the dynamic programme on TR is likely to be additionally problematic as TR would really need the dynamic programme removing too - if someone tried to select it when the bars have been changed to passive ones, I'd bet it would throw a wobbly (no pun intended ).

People shouldn't buy a complicated vehicle if they can't afford to run it. As mentioned before, if the bars have been replaced with passive ones because it was the cheaper option, what does that say to a prospective purchaser about the rest of the servicing?
