L494 Burning Smell and Strange Infotainment
My wife has just arrived home following a 20 mile journey in our L494 2019MY. As soon as she turned into our drive I noticed a burning smell......She tells me that about 1 mile away from home the upper screen went blank, the radio went off, and the lower screen started flashing!! Then closer to home she noticed a burning smell inside the car....
When I now start the car up everything appears to be working OK - both screens, radio etc and no burning smell - or smoke anywhere......
It seems as if it could be something electrical but strange that everything now appears OK.
I'll take it for a run tomorrow and see if the issue re-occurs (if so a visit to the dealer may be necessary)
Any thoughts or ideas gratefully received

Is it a diesel?
If so it may be the DPF going into recycle mode....happens very occasionally and it superheats and smells of burning....sometimes you notice it with the exhaust note changing slightly...
Re screens could be just them rebooting?

Hi Farmer Chalk
Yes it is a diesel. Thanks for that - hadn't thought about the DPF. My wife wouldn't have noticed any change in exhaust note..... (surprised she even noticed the burning smell!!!) Come to think of it I did notice a similar burning smell from outside the car a few months ago - but nothing since.
Not sure about the infotainment screens - may be coincidental. Will see how it goes.
The good news it didn't go up in smoke over night in my garage!!!!

Could it be the alternator on its way out? Electrical component failure smells quite distinctive. It may be worth having it checked as they have been known to take the battery out as well.
