Roof rails advice

We’ve just come back from our travels and took the 2 dogs, I folded the rear seat flat and got everything thing in there (how much can 2 people take away Big Cry ). So the seed has been sowed and we’re looking at roof racks/rails. Searching on here reveals that a genuine item is very rare and expensive when they become available. Other options look like a PowerfulUK rack comes in at £145 and LR trade parts on eBay are £142.95.

Has anybody any experience of these systems and any feedback or of genuine ones whilst we’re at it?. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I got my genuine roof rails/cross bar from a forum member here. Exactly the same as the LR Trade Parts ones on eBay. Fit easily and have done what they say on the tin for the past few years no problem. Look discrete as well.

Hi Puff. Do you have any concerns about the rails not having a cover for their exposed groove? Perhaps its my old age OCD kicking in but it seems strange that a cover is not supplied. Robin

The rails on my car came from a scrapper via eBay. They [have Arabic written on them but] fitted easily (using a video by PowerfulUK Ltd as a reference).

Hopefully I intend to take them off when not in use. I’ll purchase some grommets to fill the drilled holes for when it’s not fitted. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

To be honest, no but my car is hardly show 'n shine. I've not had any issue with it and it seems all fine.

I think you'll find that taking the rails on/off is a pita. You will also find that the plastic guides at the ends are sticky pads so you'll not be wanting to do that unless you can re-attach them each time. Mine are on all the time and there's no issue and they look subtle enough as it is.
