Approved Used Coverage

I’m on the edge of buying my first ever RRS. Something I was very excited about. However the more I read the more the fear begins.
I’ve found a fully loaded 2013 RRS at a main dealer which will be sold approved used. Obviously it comes with 1 year extended warranty.
I keep reading that this won’t cover crank failure. I appreciate that crank failure is extremely unlikely, but it’s still too much of a chance for me. If my crank failed and were it to not be covered by warranty, I would (to put it simply) be very screwed for quite a long time.
Is there any realistic case for say the first year, where I’ve bought a used car from a main dealer, that I would actually be left high and dry if my engine failed? Or is this only really happening when people buy the extended warranty on non approved used cars?
I want the fear gone before I commit!!

Car Care Plan (Land Rover Approved Used Warranty) WILL NOT cover crank failure

They will refer you back to the dealer, for a Goodwill claim to be submitted. While some people have been successful in a 100% coverage of costs, there are people who have had a measly 25% contribution...

I'm gutted Sad I know it really is rare but knowing me I'd get hit! Best case I guess i've probably got 6 months of consumer rights on my side, but after that I don't know.

You said that you had researched the crank failure issue and so have probably seen this but just in case:

https://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic49343.html

And there is talk that some other warranties cover this failure.... Confused Robin

Get it in writing that the fault will be covered by the dealer should it occur as part of the buying process.

Others have done the same .

Good luck 2019 Svr and 2019 R35 GTR

Very useful idea - thank you all.

I was 'happy' enough to walk away at this point, so if the dealer in question refuses to do so I guess there is no loss!

When I bought mine I got 2 years approved warranty,it was just before they changed it to 12 months, that’s how much confidence LR have in their products.ive also noticed on some second hand vehicles LR now use 2 types of warranty, one being the Approved & the other is Assured but I’m not sure what the difference is but I’ll ask when I call into Hatfields next week.
Here is the email I got from my supplying dealer.

Random off topic question that doesn’t justify a thread while I wait..

It’s an L320 HSE Black, but I’ve been given a printout showing, and have checked Topix showing the following:

“ In Car Entertainment / Speaker Meridian Surround Sound System” (Warranty printout).
“ BRANDED SURROUND SOUND SYS(L4)” (Topix)

I thought L320 HSE had Logic7?

As a previous owner of a RRS Black Edition (2013) I can confirm that this model came as standard with a:

'Harmon Kardon LOGIC 7 Audio System with 17 Speakers, active sub-woofer, DSP amplifier (825W) , USB connectivity, & single slot CD player'.

If you wish to PM your email address I can send you a copy of the 2013 Black Edition Brochure showing the standard spec.

I have a MY13 A/B with Logic 7 as standard fitment and the topix build spec. sheet just says Premium Banded Surround System no mention of Logic 7 or any other system, didn't think the Meridian systems were fitted to the Sport until introduction of the RRS2.

Cheers
Col

Well, I guess a bit of a non update. I appreciate it’s the holiday season, but this main dealer seems to have stopped replying to me since I asked the question. Says a lot I guess. Still surprising!
