It’s been a few years since I owned a black car, an 83 Capri 2.8 injection. It was lovely when it was clean but a real pain to keep that way! I know cleaning products have come a long way I generally use Maguires products on my Met Blue BMW and Silver Volvo but are there any Black specific products and processes that should use on my new to me RRS? It’s a big car to be having to wash and polish every time.

I’m defo thinking of going snow foam to wash it?

Black is beautiful when it’s clean,,but 10 minutes down the road & it’s covered in dust.

I use Poor boys black hole and then Natty's paste wax black to finish it off. The look you get after is amazing and the metallic really pops.

But as Tyrefitter said, 10min down the road and it's dirty again.

Change the colour

I have had a black Jag E-type for 37 years and would never have a black car again - it is just too hard to maintain and shows every nick and mark.

After 37 years I have had enough and changing it to red.

Nothing is nicer than a clean black car. but it all depends if you are a car man or not. I actually enjoy cleaning my cars. They are nearly always immaculate. The cleaning stuff in my garage is a testament to that. I hate getting into a dirty car, it always transfers onto your hands & clothes. If your car is kept clean, its easier to clean (daft statement, but true) If you only clean your car once in a blue moon, black is not the choice. Stick to silver.
If you think its worth it, get it detailed & ceramic coated (Gtechniq for me) then cleaning is really easy, but your correct, snowfoam, clay bar if necessary, wash, then wax or polish of your choice, but don't use anything that leaves a white residue as it collects in the seams & ruins what you have just done & no matter if you clean it out, you always sport another bit elsewhere.

Thanks for all the replies, didn’t have much of a choice on colour there isn’t much available in the south west.
I’d never have another red car I’ve had two over the years and both faded but they were old paint technology.
I do like to clean my cars but anything that’s makes it easier is appreciated.

Post on here about Meguirs ceramic wax. Its pretty good. After washing & rinsing, spray this on to wet paintwork then hose or powerwash off. Its that simple. Dry car as normal, job done. Rainwater just beads then runs off. Only about £13/bottle, lasts for good few applications. Recommended!

To work it does need to be applied to completely clean and then I find it needs to be used at every wash.

RRS sold and replaced with a Skoda Kodiaq after appalling RR Dealer experience and LR inability to supply new cars in any sort of reasonable time frame..
