Main reason appears to be to reflect U/V rays and reduce temperature of glass.

Doh! Just realised your picture was of the rear glass, and like mine that is toughened. So that shoots down my theory although there are differences in the code. Does your front screen label match mine? Here's my read quarter-light label. Previous picture was of the front screen

My front screen says acoustic on it which I think is actualy laminated glass the same as the front door glass.

Just tried one of these on mine as well, only fitted temporarily with antenna part located on the roof but worked well and took about 30 seconds to connect, when have a bit more time will see if I can find location inside the vehicle where it will work, if not guess it will have to be externally some where.
