Park Brake Fault (Smell of burning brakes)

Anything I can do to release the pads until I get to a mechanic?

Thanks in advance

Can you point me in the right direction of a video please? I can only find precious models and there is no wired loop under the centre console drinks cup holder.

Thanks in advance

If you remove the gear selector just twist it ,& pull it up & off then lever the plastic cover that P R N D are on you will see the hook there put a cable tie through & pull hard it requires a fair bit of pressure.

Why not call your car assistance company?

RRS sold and replaced with a Skoda Kodiaq after appalling RR Dealer experience and LR inability to supply new cars in any sort of reasonable time frame..

If it is an L494 then it has a totally redesigned park brake system from earlier models. The disc pads are driven onto the disk by electric servo motors on each rear disk.
The old system pre L494 has small drums inside the rear discs. The release for these is the small wire loop under the centre consol.
If yours is an L494 then the release is electronic and not manual.(no wire loop under consul)
All I can find for release on the later models is press brake pedal and press down on EPB switch at the same time.
May need a diagnostic tool to release.
If you already have smoke then maybe your system is "stuffed".

Just found this in the L494 repair manual, it may help.

With ignition on.
NOTE: This procedure allows the parking brake to be released when removing and installing new rear brake pads or
brake discs.
1. Press and hold the parking brake switch in the release position.
2. Wait 2 seconds.
3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal in the wide open throttle position.
4. Wait 2 seconds.
5. Turn the ignition Off and back On immediately.
NOTE: An audible noise will be heard to confirm that the parking brake has been released in Service Mode.
