Fitted my 19" winters today. That's me sorted for the next 5 months.

Amazing how much smoother the ride is with these 50 profile tyres vs the 40 of the 20" wheels.

Force of habit I'm afraid, have done it for over 25 years. I even continued doing it when I moved to Southampton for a few years. All my neighbours thought I was mad, that was until we had the first inch of snow and for the next three days my rear wheel drive C Class Merc was the only one of 25 cars to get up and down the modest slope at the end of our cul-de-sac.....  2010 TDV8 - current - my first RRS, loving it so far......

Which winter tyre have you gone for? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I’m going to change mine over tomorrow. 20’s off 19’s on and I agree about the ride. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Nokian WR SUV3 255/50R19 (I think the latest model is WR SUV4).

If you read the reviews these are fairly middle of the road but pretty good value for a true winter tyre. Also I figured that the Finns should know a thing or two about snow tyres and I've had Nokian winters on two other cars. In my experience these have performed much better all round than either Dunlops or Contis that I've used before.

The other good thing I found is that they are much more warm temperature tolerant than the Dunlops I had. In Scotland it's often difficult to call the end of winter with nature biting you back just when you thought spring had properly arrived. Snow in late April is a regular occurrence here so I tend to leave them on until May. However it's not unknown to get some unseasonably warm weather in March/early April - temps in the mid teens is like the Scottish summer come early!
When I had Dunlops on our c-class estate we had a couple of hundred miles to drive on a really sunny day but when we got home the Dunlops were showing real signs of heat stress, with tread starting to chunk up. Since fitting Nokians to the same car I've never had a similar problem and on my wife's Mini we once had them on for over nine months until well into summer with no noticeable issues.

No doubt winter tyre tech improves each year but I'm happy to stick with Nokian as a brand given my experience to date. It will be interesting to see how they fare in this my first winter in the RRS. 2010 TDV8 - current - my first RRS, loving it so far......

I usually ride with these 22's on



but have these for winter, looking for some 20's winter to put on these now.

Mine sits on 19”s and I’m really impressed with the ride and handling on them, I was considering changing to 20’s when I got her but changed my mind over time.

Don’t get much snow down here (4 times in 20 years and hardly lasts a day) and only a couple of frosts so road tyres all year round😄 Steve
