I doubt the diesel issue is helping. But neither will uncertainty over the UK's immediate future. Also, these things are expensive new and when second hand are competing with lots of new vehicles at the same price i.e. do you buy a second hand RRS for £40k or a new SUV from some other manufacturer for similar money? People like the new car thing, especially when you can get them on PCP for not too much per month. Also, there are a lot of RRS on the second hand market - supply and demand means the prices drop i.e. it's a buyers' market at the moment. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Half of your depreciation I expect would just be dealer margin as your comparing retail price to trade in price MY24 Dynamic SE,MY21 HSE Silver, MY20 SQ7, MY 18 RRS HSE Dynamic , MY 16 RRS Autobiography now gone & MY 2005 Discovery 3 HSE that I will be buried in ! |

There has been a large drop in the last 3-6 months, a friend in the trade with a lower end new 4x4 franchise, tells me glass & cap have finally forced JLR to face up to their residuals/2nd hand retail prices being false, the trade ins offered by JLR dealers in my experience were always very low & very similar no matter what retailer you visited. I would also say the 2 year approved used warranty has also been dropped to 1 year to try & recover some of their “supposed losses”

In June 2018 my 15/15 plate HSE Dynamic, 22” wheels, pano-roof, Corris Grey, ebony interior with 23000 mikes on it (and 2 years left to go on the service contract0 was GMFV £39000, BMW dealer offered me £42000 but after a video link inspection with the LR dealership in the same group they offered me £46000, I bit their corporate hand off! The car went on the Approved used website and was taken off it 4 days later so I assume it was the right car at the right price for somebody looking for a low miles 3.5 years old Sport up in the Highlands 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim, I got no discount on the Mini - it was a new model in the range so no discount was available although due to mess-ups at BMW when they wiped out their entire database of orders doing a software upgrade they held the price to the pre-increase price I originally signed for. The car was delivered 3 months late, there was a price rise that meant the car became liable luxury car tax but BMW very kindly paid that for me too and also the VED increased from £10pa to £140 due to a redesigned petrol engine with higher emissions, this was also paid by BMW for the first 5 years. Basically I got a 2019MY car with all those upgrades for the price of the 2018MY car I ordered.
