Door latches: Front Passenger RRS L320

Hi,

I know this has been covered elsewhere and I've seen some great threads and guides both here and over on disco3..... but I have a quick question:

I have a 2013 L320 RRS and most of the guides are for older models. Does anyone know if removing the door card, window regulator and latch is the same process? I've got keyless entry for example, so would be reluctant to remove the external door handle... would this be a problem?

Secondly, on the latch itself - I've seen a couple of versions some with two loom sockets and some with one? It looks like the going price is about £100 so I'm not sure if this is a suitable replacement as it's about half that?

Thanks!!

Cheap aftermarket ones usually fail after 5 months. I don't fit them any more.
Genuine only IMO Thumbs Up

Thanks for the advice - that explains why people are talking about over £100.

What about the fitting, am I likely to expect any surprises vs the older models and disco3/4 guides I've seen? Also, a number of people have said that it's only the motors in these latches that fail - do you have any experience of just replacing the motors?

Thanks again

Never replaced the motors. As a garage, it's cheaper for me to supply and fit a complete new latch with a 2yr warranty than it is in extra labour costs to strip the latch down and replace the motor

If your doing it yourself, it's a much cheaper way of doing it, but it's not something I get involved in Thumbs Up

I've bought used ones on eBay for about £20-£25 and fitted them. Obviously, it could fail again soon but for a DIYer it's alright because if it breaks again, I'll just get another second hand one. Kev

PS. the process is the same as the older ones. The latch differs slightly, but that's about it.

I've never had much luck in removing the handle and have always gone in through the inner skin. Kev
