Gear box update

Noticed slow or bit harsh gear change on mine at low speed and asked the dealer to comment during the serving.
its done 48k miles now and they recommended PCM and TCM update and gearbox oil change. I've asked if they would do a complete oil change and said yes (front desk not the actual engineer so needs verifying) and quoted £650.

Wondering if anyone else had similar done by the dealer or if I should try to get oil change elsewhere, looking at various posts I am not sure if full oil change is possible on ZF8?

Thanks

Post a message on the Disco4 side of this forum.
There are guys there that do flushing on the ZF6HP26 and maybe able to help you.

Update on this, I wanted to try draining the gearbox oil and found this
http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic141425....bies+guide

works for L494, including not needing the special tool that LR shown on the workshop manual as there's lot of space to use a normal hex tool.
Replaced 3.5L of oil, used Westway ZF 8 Speed Lifeguardfluid, 5L for £36.
Oil that I drained was very dark green, that was only after 52,000 miles, I can not imagine same oil being good for another 48,000 miles as per LR instructions.

So after change, upshifting is lot smoother, but still not as good as it was (when new), but biggest improvement is when deaccelerating, downshifting is so much better, with no kickbacks, very close to how it was before. Very happy with the result.
Didn't clear the adaptations.

As many Disco owners, I am going to do another change in few weeks so that will bring the new oil percentage close to half (42%, total gearbox capacity is 8.5Ls) and then probably stick to annual change just like the engine oil.

I think 'Change early and change often' given by Bobbie really is the one to follow for ZF8 Bow down
