Is your compressor running quite a lot and overheating?

Have you checked the compressor end cap for leaks between the pipes? My D3 did this bought one off ebay and did it myself on the driveway. Worth a check with a bit of soapy water. Have a look at the link below.

if no leaks, new air dryer desiccant is likely to sort your problem,

I had something similar earlier this year on my RRS. The compressor was running longer than usual and if off-road height was selected, it took quite a while with 'suspension raising slowly' and the overheat warning; it would sit in off-road height without the level dropping. The culprit became apparent when I spent a day off-road and could hear air escaping through the wet mud. Air was escaping from the top of the reservoir: over the years, water spray / wet mud sits on top of it and intergranular corrosion sets in, leaving it like flaky pastry. The compressor ran for ages because air is leaking out almost as quickly as it is pumping it in; this led to it getting hot.
