Hi guys, I’ve a 2008 3.6TDV8, last year both turbos replaced after which everything was fine. Does not get much use but took caravan to the lakes for a long weekend, if I keep the speed to around 55 max it seems ok, take it a few mph above and goes into limp mode, have to pull over to reset ignition then ok for 10-20 mins. Not had codes read as still in the lakes. I’ll get the codes read when I get back to see what may be going on.

i don't know if this applies on the RRS but on the FFRR the inlet pipes crack and that causes Limited Performance. Current: 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE

I’ve not replaced it in my ownership, in fact I’ve no idea were it’s situated!. I’ve got a new genuine brake light switch for it in my garage so I’m thinking of fitting it in any case just to discount it. I’ve taken the cover of the engine in case there are any telltale signs but the engine and underside of the cover are bone dry. There is a very small amount of soot around the drivers side grey plug that appears to sit above what seems to be a stainless steel convoluted pipe, I’m assuming this is the offside EGR pipe. But other than that all appears to be ok. Engine runs sweet with no noises and ticks over smooth, doesn’t use any oil or water and never overheats even towing on steep hills. Gearbox had a flush last year, torque converter is starting to show signs of failure, in top at say 2000 rpm if you watch the Tacho the needle will move, usually down by about 100 rpm, but you only know if you look at the needle. Mileage is now on 151,000 miles. |

I would agree with stu the plastic engine manifolds are a weak point and fail they tend to split on the seam if you get some one to rev the engine while you inspect the manifold you should be able to see where it is leaking very common failure and will put the car into limp mode when under pressure ie driving over 50-60 mph worth a check mate good luck |

It might also be worth checking the top intercooler hoses for a split which can course this problem , did a ful fat the other week, couldn’t see the split as was hidden behind coolant hose. Any whistling noise under load ? 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Well, I’ve not be able to do much lately, my AF has been causing me some issues and I’m booked into hospital this week, so everything is on hold. I am considering blanking the egr’s, I can see that the tdv8 is possible, my concern is that I need ideally someone local to me to undertake it, so is there anyone within a reasonable distance of Chester who can undertake the work, TIA,
