Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 Autobiography Stornoway Grey
Locked out of car

Just back from two week holiday, went to get into car 2010 (keyless entry) nothing doing....doors wouldn't open...tried both fobs "unlock" still nothing...no beeps...no blinkers flashing.....nothing. Any ideas, never had this before, car just seems dead. Am I missing something? Left it in access mode while we were away. Have you tried the key in fob, in door
Removing caps on handle

Then kid bonnet and jump battery

Thanks for your reply mick, I managed to get into the car via the key (reread the handbook) but everything dead....tried the fob under the steering column thing but nothing....So I'm guessing it's the battery then...Is this a common issue only having left it two weeks...Used to leave my old 06 for longer unused with no issues. 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 Autobiography - Stornoway Grey

No problem, when first owned mine, had a play think I left mine in access mode over a few days and battery was dead.
I don’t think I left it to fully go down before turning engine off tho

Had new battery week later not had problems since

Got a jump start from son-in-law, second he turned his car over the RRS electrics sprang back to life....gave it a minute, he hit the revs and I hit the start button and it started right off....took it for a drive and hopefully that's everything ok....If it happens again, then it's new battery time. Yes they can drain the battery in that time if you didn’t put it into sleep mode when you got out of the car - ALWAYS lower to access mode before locking the car if leaving it. It instructs the electrical system to completely shut down instead of when the suspension is left in normal when it continuously looks for your key fob .......... if going away and the car is left outside a cheap solar panel battery charger works wonders, I used to leave my RRS’s, Evoques and FFRR’s up to 8 months trickle charging and never had an issue after the first time it happened. Early models I could plug into the lighter socket but on later cars they get inhibited so you need to connect your panel to the jump start posts under the bonnet. If you garage your car then a CeTek battery conditioner is a worthwhile investment - do a search in the forum as lots of members use them when the go on holiday so they don’t come home to a dead car. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for the information Tim, I'm going to get myself a solar panel charger to use next time I have to leave the car that long in the driveway. I looked into a decent looking one on Ebay that lets you connect directly into the OBD. Thumbs Up 2010 RRS TDV6 3.0 Autobiography - Stornoway Grey

If your battery has been totally flattened like that, you need a new one. The old one will never hold a full charge again. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I have a cheapo £10 one from Maplin(now deceased!) and it even works under the dirty clear perplex roof-light in the shed where I store my Defender over the winter. Halfords sells them almost as cheap too.
Wilf is right about the battery too, you probably need a new one if you flattened it that much. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I had one of those solar panels from Maplin years ago .. actually it might still be languishing in the garage somewhere; if you have an old one that connects directly to the battery, remember to disconnect it before trying to start the car or you might set fire to the wires.
