Steering Column - 2006 Vs 2012

Hi Chaps, hope everyone is well.

Old member here back for some advice. I've owned a couple of 2006 RRS's in the past which have both been fitted with hand-controls (I am a wheelchair user).

I am borrowing my Dads 2012 AB for the next 9-12 months as I am waiting for a WVT6 which will be adapted for my use.

The company which manufactures and fits the hand-controls are unsure if the mounts from the 2006 fitting kit will fit the 2012 car. Does anyone know if the steering columns are the same or different on both models?

Any help is hugely appreciated.

Many Thanks

Hi Sag
Thought you had deserted us. Sorry don't know the answer to your problem, but it would do no harm to send a pm to Disco Mikey.

The newer car may have electric steering col adjustment

There could be motors in the way.
and/or you may want to unplug the motors to stop it moving about,

Hey Syd, hope all is well. Yeah I dropped the ball with not coming back, life gets in the way more than it should sometimes!
Will drop DM a PM lol.

Thanks Andy - I usually have to disconnect the adjustment motors as the brake lever is fixed into position so moving the column could do more damage than good. Good call on the motors though, never thought of that, LCFC. Receiver of threatening letters from Overfinch.

Hello
The steering columns are a bit different between them when it comes to the mount holes. The upper holes, where on the 05-09 is one setup and the 10-13 have another due to the ignition key barrel is moved from steering column to a start button on the side.
