With the new licensing laws coming into force tomorrow will anyone be having a late night pint, legally, in their local?

Personally, as I often work late in the evening I welcome these new laws and even at weekends when not working but out socialising I'd prefer staying in my chosen pub than having to find a late bar or club in order to continue boozing.

Don't get me wrong though, I'll not be drinking anymore, when I've had enough, that's it, I'll go home, not sure if everyone else will though??

I have never found it a problem under the existing laws to continue drinking after hours - so many of my local pubs would have a lock in however I dont see how they will make much difference to my lifestyle / drinking habbits

If I want to get MULLERED I have plenty of time to do just that - I dont need to be doing it in the middle of the night - I prefer my slleeeeeeeeppp

We have had them up here for a few years now and there has been no change out here in the village I live in. If the publicans of the 2 pubs want to host a function it means they don't have to go through al the hassel of getting a special license etc. The local town though has had some problems with roudy summer nights and the local licensing board very quickly and firmly dealt with it - they suspended the pub's licenses for a couple of weeks!
I think the big problem is supermarket offlicenses - it is so ewasy for the local yobs to go into one of them and shove a heap of shopping in a trolley and loads of beer or spirits and the kid on the checkout doesn't give a toss as all they have to do is put the stuff through a scanner...... I bet most of the yobbish behaviour that does occur wouldn't if the supermarkets lost the facility to seller alcohol and we all had to go back to the good old fashioned off-license store with staff behind a counter who feared they would loose their license for selling to youngsters etc. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm in favour! I hear the voices that say it will lead to binge drinking but don't these people see that binge drinking is already happening and I doubt this will create more binge drinkers. Our local pub (for local people ) are extending by just an hour on Fri and Sat night. We're in a small village - if people want to go DRINKING they go somewhere else. As to whether it's going to make the binge-drinking thing any worse - I very much doubt it. It's always going to be the same people that are causing a pi**ed-up nuisance in the high street, they'll just be out of the bars later. Not going to affect me in any way - alas I'm not 18 any more and am much more interested in going out for a good meal and a couple of bottles of wine these days, instead of going out with the sole purpose of getting completely trolleyed.

I am partly involved in a licensed premisses in Bradford which has been struggling for sales over the years, it's really tough here being in the drinks trade, we've now a license for extra hours although so far the extra sales only meet the extra wages.
We have to look elsewhere for non-alchohol returns such as family attractions, room-hire and food, always ready and looking at ways of pulling in the few customers remaining.
So for me I'm hoping long-term it will be the right thing but maybe like others feel if we don't offer what the customers want they may go elsewhere, we can't force them to drink more, they are already drinking less around here!
