Yeah, it's not a valid purchase proposition I don't think (unless you have a bottomless fuel card) but it would be worth just taking one out for half an hour to blow the cobwebs away and scare a few old ladies Laughing

Went over to listers in Coventry today - can't beleive my RRS mate who has just left LR to join Listers [ started Monday ] wasn't in - he got the day off Shocked

Anyway - they had a dealer/demo on the front in silver and a new fully loaded BLACK one in the showroom. Must say they look very nice in Black - privacy glass and just the right amount of chrome. It is definately NOT a RRS S/C equivolent............ however it still looks good - the cabin is acceptable - the noise is awsome and it only costs £40k

BUT

I'll keep my S/C [ I think ]

Must admit- if this had been available at the same time I bought my S/C it could have been a different result Confused

Ps I will take it out for a test run next week!

But it can't go off road, so why not buy a real performance car that will be able to handle the power.I just don't get the high performance 4x4 thing if it can't actually go off road and presumably being an American car it doesn't do corners either Wink

Supposedly the chassis holds up well for a yanktank, but I can't imagine it's any real competition in the twisties. I'd be interested to have a play though...

How many of us take our RRS's off road ???? as in seriously off road??

I would have bought a RRS supercharged - even if it came with absolutely NO off road capabilities at all - in fact I wish it came that way - perhaps they could have concentrated on making it drive/handle much better "on road" ............ I mean ... come on .... that's where most of us spend most of the time [ if not all ] driving the damn things.

As shmoogle quite rightly says - I would like to have a play in the SRT-8 - which I will be doing this weekend now... .. . I'm not comparing it to a regular RRS ..... I'm comparing it to the supercharged. Lets face it , for £40k its a lot of car....... & you could have £20k spare ....

"it handles the race track better than a RRS" ...... I agree race track & B roads are two different things..... so only a test drive will surfice = proof is in the pudding as they say.

I suppose its like comparing those that want raw power but can't afford an RS4 ... so settle for a Subaru Imprezza Twin-Turbo Supercharged rocket fuelled tin can thingy Embarassed

I'll just get my coat .........

Ps just took a call - SRT-8 will be round my house 9.00am sat morning for a full on road test...........

WATCH THIS SPACE Shocked

OK then ...... so I took one of these out for over an hour on Saturday

VERY VERY VERY FAST Shocked Shocked Shocked

This was the biggest thrill............ the biggest shock was that it drives/handles very well indeed for a car/suv of this size. SHOCK Shocked

I must say that it walks all over the RRS supercharged as far as outright speed goes... it handles as well if not better than the sport - but the sport has this ability to "waft" along at times and I guess this is down to the air suspension? Overall though i was truly shocked at how well this car drove.

SOUND - Oh Yes.... Oh YES ... this car has a great .... no really great sound - yet in the cabin it is relatively quiet compared to the supercharged - yet push hard and the sound is there ...... Very Happy

kick down .... at 90mph Shocked it takes off again Shocked this car just flies ....... it really is that fast. It is said that when it is truly run in - you can expect the 0 - 60 to fall to 4.8 or better Shocked I believe them!

I woul urge anyone out there who doubts what I say or thinks Jeep SRT-8 = **** ...... think again ....... go and test drive one for yourself!!!!!

It even returned 14.1mpg -thats better then my fighterbomber Crying or Very sad

If this car had been an option/available at the same time I bought my RRS supercharged - then I would have bought it - plain & simple!

BUT

Having received awfull trade in values for mine - 1yr old with only 10700 on the clock - imaculare condition - etc etc etc - the best offers out there have ranged from 40k to 46k being the best Shocked Big Cry

In a way I am glad - it has made me realise what a great car I already have & have invested in - i am not about to throw money down the drain on trading it in Mad But as I said earlier .... at £40k new, the Jeep SRT8 is really good value if you are looking for something to blow the S/C RRS into the dust. [ and the odd supercar as well] I urge you to pop down to your local jeep dealership and look / drive one for yourself.

Forget your BMW M3 or even your RS4
In the Grand Cherokee SRT-8 , peak power arrives at 6,000rpm and the 420lb/ft of torque presents itself for inspection at 4,800rpm. Thats comfortably more than a BMW M5 - save some money = try this out Shocked

I was reading a review that said it's fairly wishy-washy through bends despite what they've done to try and stiffen it up... but it does have some tasty figures to go with it. And I bet it sounds gorgeous! Thumbs Up

Believe me shmoogle it drove/handled as well as the supercharged - if not better - I thought it handled better than mine through the bends Shocked

It certainlty didn't roll & has a nice driving position including a good cockpit view over the bonnett.
