I think the dealer I bought my RRS HSE 2006 TDV6 from has been slightly misguiding. He told me that cam drive was by chain and therefore no need to change. All literature I can find says belt drive. Also trying to get appropriate lubes over here in Fuerteventura ( not easy), How do I tell if my rear diff is electronic or manual locking. TIA. |

Read through this topic, but the chances of having locking rear diff unlikely.

There are chains that connect the cams, they don't require maintenance. However, the camshafts are driven by a belt from the crankshaft, and that is rubber which does need regularly changing every 107k miles or 7 yrs which ever is sooner AFAIK. You don't want that to break. I take it he's not wanting to admit to it not being serviced properly. |
