I disagree, Martin... why go to the time/effort of making multiple copies of your music when you can keep it all in one portable location? This is why the iPod is such a commodity these days...

The MOST interface for iPod that Nav-TV promised a year ago should finally be ready to ship - maybe. I will definitely place my order the second it becomes available.

I was thinking more on the " volume " compatability issues - wouldn't disagree with your thoughts on universal storage/play options though.

Why can't we have some slot to pop in a 4gb or similar card - no wires - no ipod holder probs etc etc etc Confused

Agree on the volume - that USB socket sounds like a decent solution, you wouldn't be limited to iPods then.

That's what Land Rover was showing at their recent Extraordinary in Action event here in the US, a completely new infotainment interface (an 07 Jaguar XK lookalike) with the addition of a USB port, clearly to plug in USB drives or storage devices. Great idea, as long as they hurry it on the market and don't wait until USB becomes obsolete, like they did with the PTI cradle thing.
