Genuine Vs Aftermarket Roof Rails

Hi all,

I need some roof rails/bars for my 2010 RRS, and have come across plenty of aftermarket versions (like this one: https://www.powerfuluk.com/range-rover-spo...02130.html) but am wondering if anyone has any experience with these or should I stump up the extra cash and go for the genuine LR kit?

Do you want rails as well as cross bars? Or would a set of cross bars be OK? Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

That link is for a genuine one? Some people buy them in then discount them when they won't shift - don't think many people buy them.

@Bill - I only need one to make into a light bar mount Very Happy

by pure coincidence Wink , there's a pair in the for sale section and also on ebay as we speak.

not sure i'd want to split unless there's someone else wants just one roof bar. Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

The ones in the link are non-genuine... although they only tell you that right at the bottom of the description Wink

LR parts also have no-genuine but then have a selector that you can pick the genuine ones... https://www.lrparts.net/genuine-style-roof...sport.html

There's around £270 difference in price, but they look almost identical... hence me asking if anyone has had any expereince with them

My bad, eyesight getting worse as I get older Embarassed

I think I have genuine ones bought off a member on here but I don't know for sure. To be honest, there's not a lot to go wrong with a couple of strips of metal, some screws and plastic bits. They do look identical, so also a good chance that they were sourced from the same place LR get theirs but without LR's stonking markup. If you don't think the quality is up to it, then you can always return.

I bought a set from Powerfuluk in July last year, They have been great, no issue whatsoever with them, easy to install. (apart from removing the grommets that Land Rover put in the holes in the roof.)

I did note when installing that it looks like they had the Land Rover logo molded onto the bottom but then scratched off.

My wife even commented that that car looks better with them on.

I recently put a set of black rails and cross bars on from powerful UK to mount a Thule 780 roof box for camping easy to fit following the online video instructions also not a massive amount of extra wind noise with just the cross bars fitted. I have since removed the cross bars till next time we need them.
