Seems a bit odd as IIRC L494 RRS2 HSE and Autobiography (not sure if the SE had standard BiXenons) have BiXenon full beam as well as dip whereas the 2013 L320 had BiXenon dip with Halogen main beams. The L494 has a mechanical shutter that covers the full beam lamp when you dip the headlights so it maybe that one of the shutters isn't opening when you switch to main/ full beam. Do you also have the auto dipping headlights as there might be a fault with that too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

L320 bi-xenon main beam is xenon + halogen. There is a shutter in the xenon that switches between dip and main beam. The halogen is a "fill in" light. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I think the L320 head lights are the best I have had, But you can never have to much light on the lanes at night so I was looking into the D3S osram night breakers and also the halogen bulbs for replacement too as they seem to have rave reviews 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

I also think the bixenon high beams on the RRS2 are poor, the light output is lower than on other JLR models as I understand it. No way to upgrade. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Tim the car does have auto dipping headlights. Tried the lights again last night and most definitely on full beam the old car was better. As the car is going in for some updates next week I will ask the dealer to check that the lights are working correctly. Thanks everyone for your help. 2015 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Dynamic SDV6

The xenon lights on my 2014 RRS are nowhere near as good as xenons on my 2008 TDV8 RRS so much so that I have considered putting driving lights on the car or maybe LEDs. Still a bit suspicious of the long range penetration of LEDs though. RRS P460e

Agree with you all. My friends "old" sport is better than my MY14 on full beam. Also my old X5 was better. I think I have bitched about it before on here! Grrr... 2014 MY RRS HSE Dynamic

I'm also noticing that the brights on my MY15 are not that great: when I switch to brights, there isn't much more light outputted.

The lights on my new Jimny are so much more powerful than the 2012 RRS, I almost expect them to propel the car backwards each time they come on! Merc C220 estate Sport AMG
