Help needed with an irritating issue playing MP3s via a memory stick

The Fat 32 formatted USB stick I'm using worked perfectly well in my Jaguar XFR, so should be Land Rover friendly too. All the older tracks that were already on the memory stick work fine in the Sport, but some newer MP3 tracks I've put on won't play, though they're the same format as the rest (these play fine when I plug the memory stick into my PC, so it's not a corrupt file problem).

When I select the track to play I get an error message stating 'File or Folder not available'. When I push the 'Help' option I get a screen saying 'Is the track a playable format (It's an MP3, so the answer must be 'yes'); 'Are the tracks protected in any way?' (If they are, I can't see it in the track properties, as all are ticked 'allow'); and thirdly, 'Is the device damaged?' (I very much doubt it as all the other tracks play)

Could it be different bit rate?

How did you create the newer one?
The MP3 format has developed over the years and you are probably using a subset that the Sport does not support. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Remember the mp3 is just the container, Many codecs are used with converting to mp3 .

I found that many "Downloaded" mp3s using some weird Chinese codec that didn't work in my Sport. I had to re-encode them with Lame encoder on Audacity and they all worked fine

Give that ago.

Mines a 2012 so possibly the same Infotainment system as yours . My money will be on the encoder used !

Thanks all for the suggestions. It's possibly the converter I used. All the originals were converted from MP4 to MP3 using 'Ummy'. The latest were converted using 'Convertilla' as I'd run out of free conversions for 'Ummy' and I'm too mean to pay for software. Might try to find an alternative and see if that makes any difference.

I also couldn't play any of my mp3s until I saw this thread and followed the advice to concert the files using the Lame codec.

now all my music plays fine.  --

I used the free 'My MP4 to MP3 Converter' from Microsoft Store. It worked a treat.
