Engine fail 2012 sport,2015 rrs sport engine fit?oil pump?

My 2012 sport with only 75k on has siezed rock solid,
Baught an engine from a 2015 sport thinking be the same, the mechanic has started swapping over parts from old to new, engine mounts wiring etc etc but has notaced the oil pump on the new engine has a solenoid on it, the original one does not. Does anyone know what it does? Can it be just left unplugged? Blanked Off or does he have to swap the pump? Cheers

Tell me about it, cars on my mates ramp in 2 bits and he’s moaning wants it out of way but I don’t dare tell him to fit it and run it without knowing what it does.

Doesn’t sound good when car is in bits in workshop lol could it not just be left fully open?
I think it could be swapped but a lot of work. Surely if it limits oil flow they would not fit it if it could damage the engine?
Done a bit of reading on the net and looks like if. I power to it it runs at full flow, power to it reduces oil flow when not needed ie at idle, so maybe can run with it disconnected?
