L320 Towbar recall expired !

Hi folks, Just letting you know the recall for the detachable towbar ended at the end of December 2018. I bought an 07 Sport in September last year but didn't use the towbar until earlier this year. I discovered the detachable towbar has considerable play .I rang the Land Rover dealer to book it in for the safety recall only to be informed the recall ended last year. Apparently from January this year on L320, Land Rover don't expect your tow bar to fall off !

How can a safety recall expire. Does it cure itself after a time period. If for example it fell of & killed someone, they would not have a leg to stand on as it was once the subject of a recall which they have now cancelled. They are at it. Contact Land Rover themselves & ask the question.

After the dealer saying I would be liable for the price of the fixed towbar and the fitting , I rang LR customer services and complained . The person there was unaware the recall had ended and went and checked. She came back and confirmed it had indeed finished. I have since purchased a used fixed bar from a breakers.
