It will be a my13,,they usually bring the my next year out about sept Oct ish.Ive never really understood why,,if it’s a 2012 car it a 2012 car not a 2013 unless it’s registered after 01/01/13 & so on,,,,it’s probably just so the car companies can say you’ve got next years model. Andy.

New MY cars usually start after the August plant shutdown. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

A 21/12/12 registration is definitely a 2013MY unless it was a car bought from dealer stock after the change of model year, and at a nice discount. I bought my TDV8 in October 2007 and it was first registered with me as the first and only keeper then but I got an £11000 discount for taking an “old” model year. Crazy thing was the only difference between 2007 and 2008MY were some new colours, the car got integrated hands free Bluetooth without needing the phone cradle under the cubby box lid and for 2008 the steering column became electrically adjustable with a memory. Not having the handsfree phone system or an electrically adjustable steering column didn’t really bother me as I’m the only driver of allof my cars and in those days I didn’t have a mobile phone with Bluetooth anyway! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The VIN tells you what model year it is. Each year has a code number / letter pair just before the last 6 digits. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

As RRSTDV8 has said above, there is a code letter in the VIN for the year, mine is 2011 made 2012 MY with a C code for 2012. Yours should be a D code so something like DA79xxx. This also extends to the Engineering numbers found in Topix so a CH32 began in 2012 and a DH in 2013, EH in 2014 etc.
