Electric powered mountain bikes

I’m thinking of chopping in my very nice Marin Mountvision FSR Titanium and Carbon frame mountain bike for an Electrically assisted step through frame (old age is rapidly catching up with my left thigh which will be due for a hip replacement soon) suspension mountain bike. Does anybody here have any experience with electrically assisted mountain bikes? Any recommendations or brands to avoid? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

For a start, you're going to need a bl**dy long extension lead.

They are all Milk Floats/PHEV’s so no extension lead needed, just stronger legs to propel the extra weight....... Laughing 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I have a little experience as i have bought my wife a Haibike Hard Life 2.0 E-Bike for her to join the family out on rides, as she suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so every little helps

When i was looking, Haibike was a good brand, with the obvious more your going to spend better parts you are going to have, like all brands

A friend jut bought a Specialized Levo last year, and that is a nice bike also

I am thinking of jumping on the e-bike band wagon myself in time and at the moment, a Specialized Levo or Haibike All Mountain are topping the list

2013 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 Baltic Blue

I have a few since I got into biking (road & mountain) a few years ago.

My Specialized Levo S-works is a fantastic bike and just eats up the miles on some pretty gnarly terrain, especially compared to my "normal" Specialized Stumpjumper S-works. I have actually come to prefer it for typical trails as I can ride for longer to make up for the "lost" calories on the climbs....But despite being carbon, it's still a pretty heavy bike for lifting around. Now

this is quite a good video for buying a ebike

they have a few informative videos based on ebikes, as you have a lot to think about, sizes, motor power, power delivery, battery sizes, type of motor, display or no display, what suspension, full or hard tail, suspension travel

Maybe alocal shop will have a demo day coming up, or a local bike park may hire you one to try etc

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I have a KTM Macina Force 273 2017. V good spec with a Bosch motor in a 650B chassis. I didn't go full sus as I'm using it mainly for daily commuting in London. Done over 2k miles on it (7.5m each way) and other than pads and a chain (snapped 'cos I didn't oil it last winter) has been totally reliable.

Bosch motors power the crank and are much more efficient than equivalent hub motors. I do my 15 mile daily commute on a single charge in "turbo" mode without a problem. Mine appears to go a bit faster than its probably meant to ( Whistle ) but you will find that once you've had your 250W assist to 15.5mph (25kph) then it is like hitting a brick wall and you really have to add a lot more effort than you would want to for a long period of time to get it going faster. I find 15.5mph in traffic is not that safe for a competent rider but ok if you're happy to pootle along the curb.

Should the battery run out, then it really is like cycling in treacle as the engine acts against you - I presume the magnets are attempting to retard the motor and the fact it is 22kg doesn't help. You can get a slightly bigger battery for more range.

I originally got mine as was towing a dog trailer to work each day and it was killing me on a normal bike. Stopped taking dog to work and I've kept on it through this winter. Will go back on a normal bike to get rid of a bit of MAS soon though!

Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Java Black

I have an e bike with a 1000 watt motor ( illegal of course) in the front wheel hub. Its a cruiser style that I use to ride to the cafe or the local shop most days. I pedal when I feel like it. The bike only has 3 gears but with the 1000 watt motor, it will do 25 mph. I need an e bike as I suffer from chronic laziness syndrome, Laughing Gone - 2008 Stornoway Grey RRS 2.7 TDV6

Isn’t CLS one of the main reasons for them catching on? Laughing 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
