Multi Media Module (HLDF) Country - Japan

I’ve been trying to instal Dual View into my car with some limited success but I still can’t get the passenger image to show. I’ve been comparing my CCF to 2 other cars that have Dual view fitted.

The only obvious difference I can see that I can’t change is the ‘Front centre mounted display’ which doesn’t have an edit function so I’m guessing it refers to the actual screen (like the CCF contains the interior which is also not configurable).

The other thing which has me puzzled is that myMulti Media Module (HLDF) is for the country of Japan not “rest of world” as my 2 comparison CCFs show. Would anyone know if this is a mistake by JLR or correct? Only 2% of vehicles were fitted with this version which is V small. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

I may be wrong here, but I though there is something completely different about the Japanese system/electronics etc. as all the Navigation Units, Radios, DVD player etc. are listed specifically for Japan and were not compatible with the ROW system. Which is why you can't get those items to work in Japanese Spec. vehicles imported into the likes of the UK. but I may have that all wrong.

I’m in complete agreement which is why I find it odd that my car has Japan in the “as built data”. I think I’ll change it to “rest of world” and see what happens.

It may explain why I can keep my cameras switched on at any speed as I believe you can in Japan. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Not sure how cameras are configured but all mine, doors, front bumper and rear will all work at any speed, can't remember if have to switch them on to display before moving or before reach certain road speed though.

Haven't a clue what it means, but this is what mine says.

Thanks Col, I thought I read that cameras were inhibited above 5mph but you’re the second person to say theirs works at all speeds.

Which programme are you using for you’re as built list? It looks to have a little more detail than the one I have. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

As well as the Gap II diag. tool I also have a Backbox Solutions Faultmate one as well which allowed me to download a copy of the CCF file config. As I said with cameras they do switch off above a specific speed normally, but I put a shortcut on the home screen which allows them to be activated without going into the extra features menu, but as I said I can't remember at which point I use the shortcut to switch them on so they stay on all the time or you can have just rear rear on, mirrors only or fronts only, when I'm out tomorrow will I will check it out.

Cheers

That’s interesting as I’m using the black box solutions Genesis programme to compare the asbuilt CCFs but it’s not as detailed as your downloaded asbuilt data. If I get chance today I’ll play with the JLR SDD and VCM2 to see what it can tell me.

From everything I’ve researched, it would appear that there’s no reason why a dual view shouldn’t work as a retro fit with nothing more than a touch screen replacement and CCF update. I’m almost there but I reckon there’s just one more file to update. It’s frustrating but it must be doable with the correct setting. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Success!! I think....

Still need to take it for a drive but I have a new menu on the screen which matches that in the book. The media module setting made no obvious difference when I set it to rest of world but playing with the CCF appears to have worked. I just need to work out which of the 5 files I changed, brought up the new menu.

Also, I have a set of white fire headphones. Would I need the big roof censor or is the small square in the control panel an IR sensor for the front? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Sorry to say it's the big roof sensor on the roof in the middle. I have it on mine for the front screen and rear entertainment.

Thanks for that, I had read there were 2 sensors but could only find one. I can get one for £30 but they are all just the IR unit without the alarm sensor housing. Wiring and fitting shouldn’t be a huge issue if I can just get the unit. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Sorry to resurrect this thread after so long, but I am fascinated to finally find someone who has gone through similar woes to those I am currently experiencing. I own a 2011 Jaguar XJ (X351 new body shape) and have retrofitted a dual view screen. When my car was built it did not have this installed. I’m aware the vehicles are different but the description of the process sounds very similar - I have updated some values in the CCF and most of the dual view system is now active.

However, the on screen menus to select links on the DVD menu aren’t behaving correctly. I am out of ideas and then came across this thread.

To the OP, did you get your dual view working and what values did you need to change? Maybe I am missing something quite left-field on mine and may get inspiration from how you solved your own issues.

I have also just picked up the whitefire module to install into the roof of my car. Again, same unit in the RRS and XJ (even Jaguar branded if you flip yours over!)

Any tips welcome - we are all in the same JLR family, after all.
