Just had this same conversation about these items not being covered under the used warranty on another thread I started (and I found it absurd that the engine would not be covered)...has anyone actually had a case on here where they have tried to claim for an Approved Used car and been rejected for an engine fault?? |

As a lawyer, I would take that as a clear representation as to the coverage of the warranty. This is important, because a party who has been induced to enter into a contract on the basis of a statement - as you clearly would have been here - that is untrue or misrepresents a material fact can sue for damages or rescission of the contract, depending on the exact nature of the misrepresentation. Just check (a) the car has currently been serviced as required so they don’t try and get you on that point and (b) the warranty documents don’t exclude any prior representations, which would technically include this email. However even if they do, as a consumer you have pretty good protection under the law and the email from the dealer would be extremely persuasive in any argument / litigation you had if they tried to wriggle out of paying.

So has JLR realised it has enough problems at the moment without having a mispresentation case brought against them to have quietly put the word out to dealers that they will look more kindly at customers with a snapped crank issue ? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Should have kept your RRS Tim rather than having concerns about the warranty and moving on from it to the Outlander and Lexus.

The Approved Warranty is provided by a third party that is neither the dealer nor Land Rover. I don't see how the dealer can claim that the warranty will cover it when the warranty people have said otherwise.

But is it the dealer who is selling it? If so, then he must be liable. Same as when you have a duff car it is the dealer not Land Rover that you go after? 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled 2022 HSE Dynamic P400e 2017 Discovery 3.0 HSE Silicon Silver Nimbus interior and a few extra toys SOLD 2013 HSE Black, Orkney Grey, Ebony Seats and Ivory Interior SOLD 2006 HSE Plus a few other cars inbetween! |

Tim unless and until the JLR or the warranty provider takes out any reference to exempting design faults then the warranty is still not worth anything, despite claims above. I’m about to retire, there is now no way i’ll Ever be able to own a new RRS - if JLR had had the IPace and RRS PHEV on the market when they claimed they would then I would now be driving one of those and have it paid off before I retire, on my present salary I can afford the PCP now but not in 18 months time. As it is I now own the Mini. I have enough faith in JLR to get the next Defender right and launched by the end of this year to have put down a deposit on one to replace both the Countryman and my 1996 TDi300 Defender 90. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
