If we leave with no deal, we trade on WTO terms. WTO terms require a 10% tariff on automotive parts crossing a relevant border. So the tariff cost is being passed on to the consumer, which I guess is fair enough. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Its a couple of years old but this mentions the 10% as being on vehicles and more like 4.5% on components.

I'd suggest they're taking the mick.

A £100k OtR RR didn't cost LR £100k to build - strip back the showroom figure from Vat new car tax etc, then take off the dealer margin, take off LR markup and you can bet the car stands JLR in at about £50k-55k tops. Take a guess estimate that about 33% is labour, 33% for capital recovery leaving another third as the 'cost' of materials/bought-ins?


IF all the bought-ins and sub assemblies were imported and liable for a 10% tax that would have about a £3k impact, or being really generous, say £5k at the dealership.


A 10% Brexit hike at the retail end of the 'chain' is giving them a nice subsidy !!!!

Different for Porsche as they are importing a finished product so subject to the full import duty.

In case you missed it. JLR need to raise 1bn, this is going towards that.

Just got this through, according to this, the JLR price increase is quite small in comparison to others. Even cheaper cars like Peugeot and Renault have huge increases.
