England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Giverney Green
Inlet port deactivation

Hi, whilst browsing the circuit diagrams for Electronic Engine Controls I see that there are different versions dependant on whether the engine is with or without inlet port deactivation, what is inlet port deactivation and how do I know if I have it?

No T/SDV6 had port deactivation, it was only used in the Jag variants

Port deactivation is a way of improving engine breathing. You set up your pair of inlet ports in each cylinder so that one gives good swirl at low revs and the other gives cylinder filling at higher revs. You then deactivate the high filling port at low revs using a valve in the inlet tract.

It's a simpler version of variable valve timing, in effect.

The TDV8 does have port deactivation. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
