Response from the dealer when I messaged him about it breaking down was that the warranty should take care of it and that he will help with that as much as he can.

Don't let the dealer get away with abrogating his responsibilities by fobbing you off with the warranty con.

Just in case anyone was interested....turns out this was not the gearbox itself.
