Mud/MT Tyres

What are the options for Mud/MT tyres for our beasts?

I've just blagged some PD1881s but still have a couple of sets of 19s,

Did find some remoulds in 19 but they are out of stock everywhere.

This is for plugging around fields and whilst I'm sure my ATs are good, would like just a bit more grip for when it gets really muddy. Car lives in Wales and is solely being used at the moment for local journeys and lugging stuff to/from/through fields.

daxmatt - those aren't mud/mt, they're road tyres with M&S marking.

pufftmw - I think BFG KO2 would fit the bill and is available on an 18inch rim. Other than that General do the Grabber X3 in 255/55/19 which is a mud tyre. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Wow, I was expecting far more 18" choice than the excellent but bloody expensive KO2s.

Probably a lot more AT choice though.

I think MTs generally are available on smaller rims as they're usually fitted on less "premium" vehicles. Atturo make the Trail Blade MT in 18 and 19 inch varieties. The 19 is 255/55, not sure what the 18 is, however. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Would the STT Pro fit without rubbing on lock? The smallest they do is 275/65/18 and that's a 32inch diameter compared to the usual 29inch that the RRS wears. Would be a good tyre if it does fit.

People on Disco 4 run them, Prospeed sell the STT Pro with Compomotives and do a lock stop device. Very minimal loss of lock Thumbs Up 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

So, there is not a lot of choice of mud/mt tyres for an RRS in either 18 or 19. In the end I have come across https://beartowntyres.com who do a MT in 255/55/19, so I have gone for them replacing my 19" "summer" tyres which have been in the garage for the last 3 years.

So I now have a spare set of immaculate grey PD1881s with Kumho winter tyres Rolling Eyes
