High Beam Assist

I'm after some assistance with the high beam assist.

When the car is started the Auto Green Light comes on, is this supposed to stay on? 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

If you’re describing what I think you are, That’s not high beam assist. That’s the collision warning. When you approach a vehicle at a speed the car thinks is dangerous it beeps as a warning. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

No its the Auto High Beam Assist its a green headlight symbol with auto underneath.

It comes on when the car is started but goes off after a while, just not sure if that's how it's supposed to work. 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

Should get this I think, in Green should only activate at speeds above 25mph.

Cheers

oh that one, I’ve turned it off. It always came back on when I cancelled it with the stalk so I got fed up. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Thats the one Col,

It comes on when the ignition is turned on but then doesn't come back on even when going over 25mph.

There are no fault codes showing when checking with the IID tool.

Just wondering if i've activated it in the CCF right, I found three places and enabled it there. 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

I don't actualy have mine turned on in the menu as l personally think it is a waste of time, however had a play with mine and what it does is, switch ignition on with light switch in auto position, in daylight does nothing, if I close the garage door so its relatively dark with the auto light feature activated, provided the stalk is in the dip position the high beam assist light comes on and stays on, if you put the stalk to main beam then it turns off, open garage door to let daylight in and all turns off. Obviously with the light switch in the off position it does nothing. As it's 30 degrees of bright sunshine here at the moment I can't tell you what it does above 25mph at night time.

Cheers

When it’s dark, mine came on regardless (until I disabled it) and would function as designed (badly). Then when it wouldn’t auto dip quick enough I would manually select dip on the stalk to cancel high beam. Then when I re-selected high beam it would go back to auto and it would go on like this so it had to go. It would be ok on say long straight American roads but hopeless in the U.K, it just couldn’t react quick enough and I was being flashed all the time. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

My high beam assist comes on at 40km/hr and its super reactive. I don't get flashed at all. One thing I did notice was prior to upgrading the headlamps road signs would not dip the headlamps, but since I upgraded the headlamps they occationally do.

Thanks for this Col,

As mine only lights up when the ignition is started and then goes off there must be something not right with it. I will see if I can sort it. Having read other peoples thoughts on it i'm sure I'll end up switching it off, I just want to make it work fist Laughing 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

Have you retro fitted it as I see you say you activated it in the CCF. It shouldn’t need a CCF update if it was factory fitted. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Just had a look at the wiring on the plug and it appears that there are some cables that aren't connected in the car plug. So unless I find a wiring diagram It looks like it won't work Sad 2016 Black SDV8 Autobiography

As a point of interest have you got the high beam assist relay fitted in the engine bay fuse box? although I assume it is used in conjunction with as part off the headlight ones as it does refer to it in the workshop manual.

Cheers
