Anyone fitted and got any feedback on TEXTAR branded brakes ?

My Front Discs & Pads were low so after reading some very positive reviews online ( mainly for VW, AUDI & BMW ) I option for the disc and Pad kit from Advanced factors.

After fitting them I bedded them in as usual "very gentle braking for the fist 200+ miles". they seemed very good to start with ( Initial bite was very impressive ). But unfortunately after 300 miles I am now getting severe steering wheel wobble and pulsing of the brake pedal at anything over 50mph.

I normally go for OE brake items but I thought I would give the TEXTAR stuff a go following the reviews.

I am going to check disc run-out etc over the weekend.

I will be very disappointed if the discs are warped after such low miles.

More disappointing is that Advanced told me I would need to send the discs back to them so they can send them back to TEXTAR and I would need to purchase another set of discs whilst TEXTAR check the discs.

Will update post with run out measurements etc after the weekend. Initial feeling is that OE is the way to go.

Who fitted the brakes ?

Not a fitting issue, as I fitted them. Also no vibration or wobble until 312 miles. If it was fitting issue it would have done it from when the new discs were fitted.

I had the same issue with brembo discs and pads did about 3k then then judder came back I changed them under warranty only for the same thing to happen again so went for gen discs which sorted the problem. I’ve now fitted yellow stuff pads all round which work well.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

Warped discs can be caused by a few factors.
The one that is hardly mentioned is driving style, as everyone assumes that it is a mechanical cause.
The practice of braking then siting with a the brake pedal pressed can cause a hot spot on one area of the disc as the rest cools down.
If you imagine braking all the way down a slip road from a higher speed, then keeping one (pad sized) section of the disc insulated and hot, while the rest cools, you'll get the picture.

I don't think my driving style is the cause of the warped discs. If it was I'm quite sure the previous discs would have warped and not lasted 18 months during my ownership of the vehicle.

I don't use my handbrake when sat in traffic on a slip road, I use the park function of my auto-gearbox.

Any reviews on TEXTAR brakes appreciated

Park function at traffic lights etc. Can be a costly affair. If you happen to be unlucky and hit where the car moves forward, the brakes would happily hold the car. The gearbox will likely be damaged internally, and once the mechanism shears, the car will continue to roll.
Brakes are cheaper than gearboxes.

bored of discussing my driving style. First you say brakes cause hot spots and warped discs then I could be very unlucky and put my car into park whilst it’s moving. Well I think that’s what you mean. Either way bored.

Re. Your discs; try another brand such as Delphi / Pagid and see how you go. Personally I've never had any trouble from Delphi. The D4 forum has reports of Mintex not being what they used to be, so maybe have a read and make your choice. If you register with the Disco4 side of the forum, the tech. Info has alot of very useful content that is applicable to your car also.

UPDATE.
Finally managed to look at this over Xmas and the Textar discs have been removed due to one of them having 0.20mm run out ( the max run out is 0.07mm according to Textar technical department ). The other disc measured within spec.

I have returned both Textar discs and I am awaiting for a refund from Advanced. The good news from Textar when I spoke to them was that they said they offer a [u]no quibble guarantee on returns, which I thought was very good customer service. Hopefully Advanced offer the same !!! will keep you posted.

I have had steering components checked, lower arms, upper arms, wheel bearings and had wheels and tires all balanced and no issues were found.

I have since fitted genuine Landrover discs and the problems experienced with the Textars have all disappeared [/u]

I’ve had Textstars on a Mondeo and they were poor as you experienced and I never sit with my foot on the brake, in fact the garage told me I’m far to sympathetic with brakes as mine usually end up with a glaze. I’ve also had mintex discs and pads and they were terrible, nice fancy expensive looking packaging with hologram security seals but that’s where the quality ended. That was on a Focus diesal, ended up using Genuine Ford parts at well over twice the price. They came in plain white card board boxes with a few Ford part labels. Worked a treat and outlivedthe car.

I learnt that fancy packaging doesn’t make a quality product from that experience. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

Mintex are not what they used to be,a Chinese/Japanese company bought them out for the name,they are probably crap parts in mintex boxes. Andy.

Glad i found this thread although i remain to be convinced it is my problem.

My RRS went into my local garage to have new rear discs and pads and handbrake shoes, i supplied the parts from Eurocarparts, they were Eicher branded discs

I do a 40 mile commute to my workplace once a week and have noticed a vibration from cold start after about 10 minutes, which is the time it takes for me to get to the motorway from my house, once i get upto approx 60mph, which gets progressively worse for about 5 minutes , then it disappears again, that's what makes me wonder if it has anything to do with the new rear brakes.
Why woiuld it disappear once everything has warmed up?

To be clear ...this is on a motorway with no braking involved

I am asking if it could be anything else like bearings/bushes/wheel weight lost or something?

Should i give it a week or 2 more for the brakes to bed in or get it into garage?

Any help/suggestions appreciated

Has this only happened since the new discs and pads were installed?

When it happens again, throw a little water on each disc and see if one or more boils the water off. I suspect you have a sticking caliper catching a disc. When it gets hot, the friction material on the pad loses erm friction. That would explain why it appears to disappear. Here’s another thread recently with a similar scenario.

Yeah thx for the suggestion, will stop at the services about 20 mins from my house with a squeezy bottle of water and check that out.

Looking at the other link you shared, guess it makes sense about the piston issues regarding new pad replacement
