Crankshaft Issue

The 3 year warranty is due to expire in January 2019 on my RRS 3.0 2016 model.
I have only done about 9500 miles and was considering an extended warranty with maybe Landrover, Car Care Plan or Warranty Direct.

I wasn't aware of the crankshaft problem with, if I have read it correctly, my model.

Has the problem only occured with high mileage or am I still at risk with my relativitely low mileage?

I will start to look for another make of car, which is sad after 3 RRSports which I love driving.

However this will take some time and I will need some sort of extended cover until I sell my RRS.

Any help/info would be appreciated. Arrived - RRSport 2016 HSE SDV6 HSE
Loire Blue/Ivory leather Privacy Glass

Gone - RRSPORT 2010 TDV6 HSE
Stornaway/Ebony Premium leather with Lunar stitching, Heated Steering Wheel and Privacy Glass.

Gone - RRSPORT TDV6 HSE
Buckingham Blue/Ivory, Privacy Glass, Tasmods Sills, Supercharged Black Badges all round, Grille & Vents, plus RRSport Sticker & Brolly of course.

I may be wrong but my understanding is that it affects all years and mileage is irrelevant.

There was a chap on here who sold a L494 2013 with around 20,000 miles. It had a bolt on Land Rover Warranty but when the new owner suffered a snapped crankshaft Land Rover refused to honour the warranty and left him high and dry.....😑

I’m sure that someone will be along with a link to the whole saga.

Jim

I sold my14 sdv6 with 12 months approved warranty remaining 33000miles flrsh & crankshaft failed within 2 weeks of new owner having it & LR basically said tuff Censored & we want Β£18500 plus vat for a new engine..if I was you Richard I would get rid.
Tim of Scotland was in the same predicament when his came up to 3 years old & LR wouldn’t cover crankshaft if he did take out the extended approved warranty,Tim had only done about 20000 miles in his. Andy.

Heres the China one, maybe this is the real reason they need to cut costs when they realise its a world wide issue and not market specific. Maybe JLR ignorance to its customers is finally coming back to bite them Rolling Eyes 2003 BMW M5 - 5 Litres of V8 Optimax Slurping Goodness in Carbon Black

Which is why the home market is collapsing...people are going elsewhere. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

No more diesels for me,,I only do around 5-7k a year so I’d rather pay slightly more for petrol than pay out for a engine. Andy.

If you have to go the diesel route, the TDV8 is the way to go. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

My 2 Year LR Approved used warranty expires in Jan 19. I’m going with Warranty Direct and everything is covered including wear and tear after the first 90 days and its cheaper than LR.

The problem, Rob, is having a great engine in a wobbly chassis... Whistle Thumbs Up

I might end up following you in to 4.4TDV8 FFRR country, however. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
